Community Garden

The Sam Herrick Community Garden is one of our favorite parts of our church. One section has boxes that anyone from the surrounding community can rent and enjoy the results of their efforts. This facility is used to teach children and families about growing fresh produce. Our chief garden stewards, Sam Herrick, Skip Kirby, and Clarence Woods, are responsible for overall garden maintenance. The garden committee is made up of members of St. Timothy’s congregation.

The largest plots in the garden are reserved to grow food for the surrounding community. Our garden stewards select, plant, tend, and harvest the best plants to grow for our local food banks. In this way, we can help combat the problem of food deserts in San Diego, and more people can have the nutrition they need.

Our annual fundraiser is at Sunday church services in the month of August to assist in supporting the garden.
